Background of Tenkara fishing:
A very ancient fishing style practied on mountain streams in Japan. Now it is attracting the attentions of all fly fishing men from the western world.This fishing style targets both warm and cold water streams, ponds and lakes for fishing trout, bluegills, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and crappies.
The Sakasa Kebari, or reverse hackle fly is probably the ivonic "Tenkara fly." Their characteristic that they are dry and that their wings, and legs oriented towards the eye of the hook where it is made. The hackle shape, and the heavy hackle, act like a sea anchor or drogue chute (an underwater parachute), resisting the pull of the lime. That helps minimize line sag and allows a tenkara angler to keep his line tighter and off the water's surface.
Slight rhythmic pulsing flies by raising and lowering the rod causes the fish to jump. When the rod is lifted, the string is corrected and flies slowly pulls up and down. By lowering the rod down flies to sink slowly and feathers flies (Saccas Chebar) to bend towards the hook eye. Gently lifting up the rod,feathers flies to bend backwards. Thus pulling the fly looks like it was alive it irritates the fish shot. Pulsing should be very skillfully, and that can be a feathers, open and close.Tenkara has no strict rules.
